儒林外史中汤镇台父子是怎样的人主要事迹有哪些

　　汤镇台的主要事迹及人物形象分析
　　汤镇台是吴敬梓在《儒林外史》中描绘的智勇双全的帅才虎将式的人物。俗话说，虎父无犬子。奈何，汤镇台的两个儿子在其庇护下，坐享其成，文不成武不就的。汤镇台的二位公子，人称大爷、二爷的，他们也有考取功名之心。不过，近朱者赤，近墨者黑。二位公子的堕落与他们的堂兄汤六老爷，有着极大的关系。
　　这个汤六老爷，人称六老爷的，每天无所事事，除了到叔父汤镇台家里混日月外，茶馆、青楼的，他是常客。六老爷为要到南京赴试的汤府大爷、二爷设宴饯行，他居然把青楼女子带来陪酒。大爷、二爷的对青楼女子，似乎并不陌生。酒桌上，他们二人吹嘘一番自己对贡院如何的了解，讲了贡院开考前举行仪式的场面如何的隆重。期间，他们讲出了严贡生在贡院遇鬼索命，试卷作废，没有考中举人的故事。估计这则严贡生撞鬼故事，是他们以讹传讹听来的。按理说，汤府的二位公子眼看就要赴试了，他们本应该专心于温习功课读圣贤书，而不是行走于烟花柳巷，醉心于饮酒打趣。
　　与前面说过的娄府二位公子的儒雅谦恭比较，这汤府二位公子的行为人品真不咋地。
　　到了南京，进贡院前，大爷、二爷着实忙碌准备一番，他们自己抱着篮子，背着行李。看来，明清时期的科举考试，官府只提供场地，考生们要自带食物和住宿的行李。如此也难怪，范进参加乡试前，他找胡屠夫借钱，以作为路费和其他费用。钱要的多了，胡屠夫不愿意借，就啐了范进一脸唾沫。参加科举考试，吃住与路费都需要花费不少钱。蒲松龄的贫穷，不仅是因为他醉心于科举忽视经营产业，也和他每次参加科举考试的巨大花费有关。
　　考试结果出来了，踌躇满志的大爷、二爷都没考上。落榜的二人，他们怨天尤人，大骂帘官、主考不通。这二人也不好好想一想，自己把主要精力用在喝酒玩乐上了，如何能考得上？除非他们是天才。可惜大爷、二爷不是什么天才，而是像如今某些富二代、官二代的，成了游手好闲的花花公子。他们刚从贡院考试出来，每人吃了一只鸭子，睡了一天，然后叫小厮拿了都督府的溜子，溜出一班戏子谢神。这哪是什么谢神的，分明是大爷、二爷想看戏，摆谱弄个戏班子开戏曲专场。在玩和享受的方面，大爷、二爷是行家。
　　自己没学问考不上举人，汤府的大爷、二爷想到了在外屡立战功的父亲，就随着运盐船向镇远县行进，他们想着通过父亲的权势，打通关节开后门，捞取功名。
　　运盐船途径彭泽县遇到水盗，船只搁浅。水盗化装成抢险的船夫，把一部分盐掠去。汤府二位公子写了呈子派船夫到彭泽县报案。那知彭泽知县接到报案，他不去调查，直接的断定是运盐船的船夫监守自盗，打板子动大刑。江上有没有水盗，彭泽知县不会一无所知的。那些水盗，劫掠运盐船行动一致、迅速不乱的，应当是长期在江上作案。彭泽县令推卸责任，糊涂断案，打原告，不查水盗，这实际说明了他治理彭泽县无方。汤府二位公子给船夫求了情，彭泽知县把船夫放了。船夫挨了打，白白损失了一大笔盐，吃了哑巴亏。
　　镇远县苗民作乱，绑架了生员冯君瑞，勒索银两。看来，明清时期地方政府对少数民族弹压过度，缺乏怀柔。当时镇远县的苗民作乱，还是因为他们的生存环境不好，政府缺乏救助。汤都督奉旨带军队前去清缴，在前线官职为镇台。镇台相当于总兵，通常为公侯或地方的都督兼任。
　　汤镇台作战前，买通书办，把官府文书改了。由原来的带领兵马改为多带兵马，使汤镇台可以带重兵前去清缴叛乱，提高了胜算。汤镇台胆大心细，他修改文书虽冒天下之大不韪，却也是大手笔，力度够老辣。然后，汤镇台巧施妙计出奇兵，击败叛军，攻下苗寨。获胜后，汤镇台异常冷静，他认为叛军会卷土重来实施报复，就将计就计，设埋伏击溃反扑的叛军。
　　由于没有救回冯生员，没有擒获苗酋别庄燕，上司总督下令专问别庄燕、冯君瑞两名要犯，务须刻期拿获解院，以凭题奏等语。汤镇台着了慌，一时无法。敌我作战既是白刃搏斗，也是双方主帅之间的斗智斗勇，还离不开情报的获得。汤镇台派臧岐前去打探消息。获取苗酋消息后，汤镇台利用正月十八镇远县的风俗在城中设伏，当苗酋偷袭时中了圈套被捉，参与叛乱的冯君瑞也被当场擒获。汤镇台彻底平息了镇远县的苗人叛乱。
　　当汤镇台在疆场冲锋厮杀，平叛乱立大功时，他的两个儿子在镇远县内，既没有拿起刀剑和父亲一起冲锋陷阵，也没有参与镇远县的防务，就那么悄无声息的在一边待着，好像人间蒸发一样。如若不是汤镇台带着两个儿子得胜班师，人们兴许把他们遗忘了。
　　回到家乡后，汤镇台要请一位先生，替两个公子讲举业。看来，汤镇台并非那种徇私舞弊走后门的昏官，他还是希望自己的儿子凭真才实学考中举人。汤镇台英雄一世，他的两个儿子显得很平庸。虎父犬子的，汤镇台也显得很无奈。吴敬梓如此描写，似乎是为了更好的衬托汤镇台的英勇。
