天龙八部虚竹人物形象分析

　　【虚竹】
　　虚竹和萧峰相同的，是同样面临着身份沦丧的难题：从恭谨持戒的小和尚，被命运的奇遇逼迫，不能容身于自幼安身立命的少林寺。虚竹和尚身份的丧失，与萧峰汉人身份的丧失一样令其人惶然。萧峰的真正出身是血统上的原罪，虚竹的真正身份是道德上的原罪。然而虚竹并不因此而受谴，他只为父母悲伤。他对江湖或者说社会，并无萧峰那样超人般的自觉负担，因此他身具大能，也只做一些拔除生死符之类的善事，并不能当正义的权威。他从小受的佛教出世解脱思想，使他牢记‘众生无我，苦乐随缘’。萧峰是天才和英雄，禁欲主义者，抗争宿命的不祥；虚竹却因为他的平凡和驯顺，对宿命的得失随缘，自然地生存了下去，而且助他最终随缘宿命的，是他对情欲的不可抵制。
　　虚竹和萧峰相反的是，他资质平庸，于武学之道也不太热衷，驯顺善良，很难看出他父亲的领袖气质和母亲的偏激性情在他身上的影子。如果中原武林能预计到他将会掌握横绝天下的武功，恐怕虚竹也会象萧峰一样受到道德上的严格训诲，操守和义务的严格教育，那么他就不太可能坦白面对人之初的欲望。虚竹的破戒，无非是破除执着，虽然逍遥派似乎是道家门风，但助虚竹完成少林和逍遥间身份转换的，却依然是他自幼的佛教思想。
　　虚竹子武功高到不可思议，但他的难以被伤害，恐怕不是出于武功的保护，而是他无所执着的灵魂。他最后的归宿，大约可以用庄子《逍遥游》里一段寓言描述：今子有大树，患其无用，何不树之于无何有之乡，广漠之野，彷徨乎无为其侧，逍遥乎寝卧其下，不夭斤斧，物无害者，无所可用，安所困苦哉？灵鹫宫就是这无何有之乡。
　　人物经历
　　自幼出家为少林寺小僧，二十二岁起始习武，二十四岁时因跟随师父发放名帖下山。误打误撞之下，与一众少林高僧一起被星宿派所掳。后来因为救四大恶人之首恶贯满盈段延庆一命，无意间破解逍遥派聋哑老人苏星河的珍珑棋局（无崖子所摆下的），逍遥派掌门人无崖子遂收其为徒，化去其少林内功，并将七十年逍遥派功力传于虚竹，并传授逍遥派第三代掌门之位。
　　后来无意间救了天山缥缈峰灵鹫宫宫主天山童姥一命，为了逃避天山童姥的死对头师妹逍遥派李秋水的追杀，他俩决定躲藏在李秋水的大本营西夏皇宫内的冰窖中。躲藏期间天山童姥不断软施硬逼虚竹破荤戒，却始终未成，索性便在暗夜时分，将一名一丝不挂的妙龄女子梦姑放在虚竹身旁，而虚竹终于破了淫戒，当天山折梅手传授给虚竹后，为对付李秋水便打算一并把天山六阳掌教给他，不料虚竹不肯助其杀人，坚不肯学，甚至起意离开，为此，天山童姥用谋在虚竹身上种落生死符，再假称教他破解之道，把生死符克星天山六阳掌的功夫倾囊相授，而天山童姥在与李秋水互比内力时，虚竹被夹于两人中间，因此两人的内力皆囤积于虚竹体内，而虚竹身上则有逍遥派三大高手二百余年的深厚内力。最后虚竹得到天山童姥、李秋水及无涯子三人深厚的内功，天山童姥亦传其为灵鹫宫宫主。后来虚竹化解了灵鹫宫的危机后，在宫内和大理皇子段誉结拜为兄弟，并共尊大辽南院大王北乔峰萧峰为大哥。处理完灵鹫宫大小事务后，虚竹决定回少林寺，遇上吐蕃大轮寺鸠摩智明王前来挑战少
　　高虎版虚竹林众僧，虚竹挻身而出，虚竹凭藉一身逍遥派武功，久斗后大败鸠摩智，拯救了少林之名誉，但仍被逐出少林，改名虚竹子。在少室山武林大会中，萧峰遭受姑苏慕容氏家主慕容复、星宿派创派师祖星宿老怪丁春秋和丐帮帮主庄聚贤围攻的时候，虚竹引走星宿老怪丁春秋，虚竹使开天山折梅手和天山六阳掌与丁春秋展开激烈交战，两人斗得势均力敌，难分难解，久斗后虚竹以生死符降服丁春秋，而后丁春秋被送入少林寺戒律院感化，星宿派则改投灵鹫宫门下，报了弑师（无崖子）之仇。后来虚竹自愿接受戒律棒，露出了背后的香疤随即被叶二娘认出为其儿子，萧远山指出了虚竹的父亲即为少林寺方丈玄慈也是当年的带头大哥。玄慈愧疚之下也接受200戒律棒而死，叶二娘也自杀，虚竹在好不容易找到亲生父母却双双死亡伤心不已。在萧峰去跟随萧远山追逐慕容博父子时，虚竹派灵鹫宫弟子保护萧峰的十八骑。后来，西夏国王招纳驸马，虚竹原本只打算陪同义弟段誉应征，却发现原来西夏银川公主竟就是在冰窖中曾与他有过肌肤之亲的妙龄女子梦姑，二人终成眷属。而后为了拯救义兄萧峰免于牢狱之灾，率领灵鹫宫部众与义弟段誉一行人远赴大辽。阿紫抱住萧峰一起跳下悬崖，虚竹与一行人返回灵鹫宫。
